Sara currently holds a position at the Public Health agency of Sweden as a head of the microbiology department. Sara has been based at the PHAS for 10 years, starting out in the area of antimicrobial resistance and thereafter holding positions as head of unit within the areas of surveillance and diagnostics at the Department of Microbiology. During the COVID-19 pandemic Sara held a position in the crisis managmement team coordinating the work at the agency for most part of the pandemic. 

Sara holds PhD and is a civil engineer.

Since September 2021, Anne Calteux has been the Representative of the European Commission in Luxembourg. Before that, she held the position of Head of European and International Affairs, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Health in Luxembourg and was in charge of the coordination of the COVID-19 crisis cell at the Ministry of Health. Holding a Master's degree in Comparative European Law from LLM, King's College in London, Mrs Calteux was a lawyer at the Luxembourg Bar from 1999-2003. She represented Luxembourg to the EU in the fields of public health and social security between 2004 and 2013.

Dr Bruno Ciancio is a medical epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist. He worked as infectious disease epidemiologist at national level in Italy and in the UK. After completing the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET), he joined the ECDC in 2006. He worked as influenza expert for several years, supporting surveillance activities and pandemic preparedness, establishing the I-MOVE network for monitoring influenza vaccine effectiveness, and developing guidelines on influenza prevention. Since 2011 he leads the Surveillance section which is responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of infectious disease data at EU/EEA level, for global epidemic intelligence, and for microbiology. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Ciancio led the ECDC COVID-19 team and the development of surveillance guidance and outputs.
